THE LoneStars of Liberia have been drawn alongside
Ethiopia, Guinea, Niger in Group two of the qualifying rounds of Tunisia 2004 African Nations Cup.
The draws which were held on Saturday at Palais De Congres, Bamako, Mali, has a record 49 entries. They were divided into
10 groups of four teams and three groups of three teams.
The LoneStars may not have problem
emerging top in Group two which many people believe consists of weak teams apart from Guinea..
The
first teams of each group will directly qualify for the final tournament in addition to the best second team from the
groups of four teams. Senegal, the loser of 2002 final in Bamako will compete in the qualifiers. The qualifying
series will kick off September 6 this year and end July 8, 2003.
First seeded teams are Cameroon, Senegal, Mali, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, DR. Congo, Ghana, Liberia,
Morocco, Togo, Zambia, Burkina Faso, and Algeria.
Second
seeds are Cote d'Ivoire, Angola, Madagascar, Congo,
Gabon, Uganda, Lesotho, Libya, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Sudan, Guinea.
Third seeds are Burundi,
Mauritius, Malawi, Chad, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Swaziland, Cap Verde, Rwanda.
While fourth seeds are Benin, Botswana, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania, Niger Central
Afrique, Sao Tome, Seychelles.
